1,600 Visitors Flock to Opening Day of UK's Largest Solar Event
This year Birmingham is playing host to the UK’s largest solar event, and by the close of doors yesterday, 1,600 visitors had attended the exhibition’s opening day.
Birmingham’s ICC Exhibition Centre is playing host to Solar Power UK 2011. Organised by Solar Media, the event is the perfect opportunity for solar enthusiasts to mingle with the biggest and brightest names in the renewable energy industry.
The three-day exhibition will see solar thermal and solar PV specialists showcasing their products, and with more than 50 speakers signed up to appear at the conference, delegates will hear from the likes of Greg Barker, the Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, comedian and environmental campaigner Alistar McGowan and Virginia Graham, chief executive of REAL Assurance Scheme.
Opening the conference, Solar Media’s founder and chief executive officer, David Owen said: “Internationally, solar technology is one of the most pioneering industries of the future and, while it has taken a few years, the UK has made its mark.”
“We are extremely pleased with the positive growth at this year's event, and would like to thank all of our sponsors and partners for their support in making our dream a reality,” he added.
