Case Study: Solar Panels Installed on a Stable Block
In the first of a series of case studies, Solar Guide takes a look at the installation of a solar PV array on a stable block in West Sussex.
Back in September 2011, the owners of a property in West Sussex contacted InstaGen with a view to having solar panels installed on their property. Concern over rising energy bills coupled with help in the form of Government incentives courtesy of the feed-in tariff had fuelled their interest in solar energy.
However, the farmhouse was a listed building and planning permission would need to be sought if the installation was to go ahead. So rather than wasting time waiting for planning permission to be approved, a suitable solution presented itself in the shape of a nearby converted stable block. Situated close to the farmhouse, the small stable block, with its south east facing pitch roof, was ideal for the installation of a 16 panel solar PV array.
