Council makes plans for solar panel installations
Colchester Council is looking to install solar panels on many of its homes, according to reports.
The Essex County Standard, has stated that the council is planning to install photovoltaic (PV) panels on 2,000 of its homes in order to reduce energy costs.
If the planning application is successful, PV panels will be placed on all the roofs that face south. This is to make the most of the sunlight exposure.
The plans will be made available for firms to submit bids to take charge of. The ambition is for the panels to be installed by April 2012.
