IKEA Steps Away from UK Solar Market After FiT Closure
IKEA will no longer be supplying solar panels to the UK market after the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) came to an end on 31st March 2019.
The Swedish furniture supplier, which has been supplying solar panels to the UK market since 2013, has said that supplying solar panels is 'unviable' until the landscape of the UK solar market improves.
Since 2016, IKEA committed to supplying Solarcentury products and even added solar batteries to their range in 2017 but the end of the FiT has brought their UK solar panel venture to an end.
Solarcentury have made the following statement on their website: "We have received a large volume of solar enquiries in anticipation of the closure of the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) on 31st March 2019. This has resulted in all of our installation slots being booked.
"Post March, the closure of the Feed-in Tariff and the uncertainty as to when and how this will be replaced means we are putting our solar offer under review. Solarcentury together with IKEA would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
