The Sharp Renewable Energy Academy is now open
A new solar installer training academy has opened its doors.
The Renewable Energy Academy has been developed by Sharp, a manufacturer of solar PV panels. The company’s new academy is based in Llay, near Wrexham and aims to help reach the expected demand for Solar installations in the UK.
Demand for UK solar installations is expected to hit 180,000 by 2015. This demand will generate a market of over £500 million per year for professional installers.
Between 25 to 50 people will be trained at the Sharp academy every month. Trainees will range from electricians, roofers, building contractors to heating engineers.
The courses provided consist of a blend of classroom discussion and hands-on installation experience on simulated rooftops. Examples of courses include ‘Awareness of the Renewables Industry’ and the ‘Solar Photovoltaic Installation Training Programme’.
Installers to pass through the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy will also be invited to attend additional training to become an accredited Sharp PV-Partner.
And, to celebrate the opening of the academy, Sharp is also hosting a competition to offer free solar PV installer training. Six lucky people will be able to win a place on one of the Sharp Renewable Academy courses.
To enter the competition, all you need to do is explain in no more than 100 words why you deserve a free place at the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy.
